Mourinho Arrested: Dog Goes On The Run

Thursday May 17, 2007

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has been arrested and cautioned after refusing to let police put his pet dog Gullit into quarantine.

An dog warden from Westminster City Council is trying to track down the Yorkshire terrier, which Mr Mourinho set loose so it could escape from officers.

A spokesman said the council has a proven track record in tracing missing dogs.

In July 2005 it reunited actress Liz Hurley with her Labrador Emily after it also ran off.

If the council finds Mr Mourinho's dog, named Gullit after the long-haired former footballer Ruud Gullit, it will contact Belgravia police station, the spokesman added.

The Chelsea manager's pet is believed by police to have travelled out of the UK and then back again without the correct injections.

It was to be seized for alleged offences under the Animal Health Act of 1981 and the Rabies Order of 1974.

When asked about the incident at a press conference, Mr Mourinho said he was concerned the incident had upset his wife and children.

"Nothing hurts me, especially in football. What hurts me is what happened to my family, not me," he said.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said police and an animal welfare officer went to an address in central London at 7.45pm Tuesday.

He said: "A 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of obstructing police and was taken to a west London police station.

"He subsequently received a caution for obstructing police."

The Sun said Mourinho, 44, was at Chelsea's player of the year awards when his wife Tami phoned to tell him his pet terrier was being taken away.

When Mourinho arrived at his home at 9pm to he reportedly argued with police before angrily bundled his prized pooch away from police.

Yorkshire terriers are described as having a "confident and self-assured" demeanour as well as being "intelligent, independent and gutsy".

The long-haired dogs are now popular pets for celebrities such as Justin Timberlake and Bruce Willis, but they were originally bred for a less glamorous purpose - as ratcatchers.

Isn't this ridiculous?

The funniest part is when it says: Mr Mourinho's dog, named Gullit after the long-haired former footballer Ruud Gullit

Also, he let it go free?! Hahahaha. JOSE MOURINHO'S DOG IS ON THE RUN !!  ;D  (or was)
